Castle Church

The Church in the Altenburg Castle was built in Gothic style at the beginning of the 15th Century. A disastrous fire destroyed huge parts of the crypt, which was rebuilt in late Gothic style. The inner architecture was remodelled from time to time and currently boasts a baroque interior from the 17th Century. The altar is a sight to see as it tells the Easter story. Opposite of the altar is the royal box, which can be viewed as well. The box gives a beautiful view of the great Trost organ.
