Start: Playing Card Town Altenburg

The town of Altenburg is located just 30 miles south of Leipzig and is known as Germany’s capital of playing cards, which are produced here since over 500 years.  Altenburg is the birthplace of Germany's most popular card game SKAT. Card lovers baptize their cards at the "Skat" fountain" for good luck, always. A visit of the Playing Card Museum and Germany's largest Playing Card Shop are a must.

Burg Gnandstein

Various exhibitions about the history of Castle Gnandstein invites you to visit the medieval castle tower and grounds. From the 13th century tower, to baroque and classical interior. A special jewel is its late Gothic style chapel, which is currently closed due to restoration efforts.

Pottery Town Kohren-Sahlis

The famous fountain and many local potters welcome you to visit their town and the pottery museum. The town offers several forms of recreation which wait for you and your family.

Frohburg

Prießnitz

Thermal Spa Bad Lausick

Well known for its St. Kilians Church, historic municipal museum and convalescent home, the town of Bad Lausick welcomes the young and young at heart in their health spa and water park “Riff“.

Final Destination: Colditz

The history of the impressive castle goes back to the 11th century. It is well-known worldwide, because of its recent history during World War II. It served as a prisoner of war camp for officers of the Allied forces. Colditz Castle houses an exhibition about its period as Officers Camp No.IV. Venue for many spectacular attempts to escape, some of the materials used in the efforts are on display.
